The PhD program prepares students for successful careers in universities and research institutions, as well as in central banks and public and private sector organizations. Many years of successful placements, together with the career trajectories of our graduates, attest to the value added of the PhD program.
Our students benefit from a stimulating academic environment with accessible and supportive faculty. CEMFI foster an international and interactive setting in which students develop into independent and productive researchers. The typical duration of the PhD program is three to four years. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the official PhD in Economics and Government degree by the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo.
CEMFI has been recognized with the María de Maeztu Excellence Distinction award. This highly selective distinction is awarded by Spain’s National Research Agency to "fund and accredit public research centers and units in any scientific area that demonstrate international scientific impact and leadership and actively collaborate with their social and business environment."
