Location. CEMFI is located in a quiet yet very central area of Madrid, between Retiro Park and the Prado Museum, in a beautiful historic building dating back to 1887. You can learn more about CEMFI's location here and download a PDF map here .
Accommodation. Students students at CEMFI typically rent apartments and share them with classmates or current students. To support the housing search, there are multiple listings of inexpensive hostels for temporary stays while securing accommodation. In addition, rental agencies with English-speaking staff are available. Students interested in contacting current students or future classmates to inquire about apartment availability are encouraged to let us know, and we will help facilitate contact.
Cost of living in Madrid. The cost of living in Madrid is comparable to that of many European capitals. Based on information provided by current students, average monthly living expenses are approximately EUR 950. This estimate includes accommodation in a shared apartment, with monthly rent typically ranging from EUR 450 to EUR 600.
Transportation. Madrid has an excellent public transport system (subway, buses and suburban trains). There are monthly public transport passes that, at affordable prices, allow unlimited travel in different modes of transportation within the delimited zones. When travelling from the airport to downtown Madrid, you can take a taxi for a 33 euros flat fee. You can also use the subway or the local trains .
