Requisites and admission criteria

  • Applicants for Summer-School courses must have a university degree (BA or equivalent) that provides an appropriate background for further study. In addition, a good knowledge of English is a necessity.

  • Each course description indicates the background in econometrics, finance, economic theory or other subjects needed to take full advantage of that course.

  • Admission decisions will be based on the educational background and professional experience of applicants, and on the order of arrival of their applications.

Application and tuition fees

  • Applications for admission should be submitted electronically. The deadline is Friday 25 June 2010. Applications received after this deadline will be processed subject to availability.

    Access to the on-line form

  • There are two classes of tuition fees:

    - General fee, EUR 1,800 per course.
    -
    Academic fee, EUR 800 per course.

    Academic fees are only applicable to full-time university faculty or full-time graduate students. The applicants in this group (after submitting their electronic applications) may request a discount of EUR 300 by sending an application letter to the Director of the CSS, CEMFI, Casado del Alisal, 5, 28014 Madrid, Spain, together with a CV documenting the merits and circumstances which might justify this discount. We will consider only those discount requests received by 25 June 2010.

  • Applicants will be informed no later than 2 July 2010 of decisions on applications received by 25 June 2010. Each applicant will receive an admission number for each of the courses to which he is admitted.

Payments

  • Each applicant must advance a nonrefundable deposit of EUR 150 per course before 16 July 2010 to in order to reserve his place. The remainder of the tuition fee should be paid before 6 August 2010.

  • Applicants will be offered a personalized URL for online credit/debit-card payments (Visa, Mastercard or 4B will be accepted).

    Alternatively, payments can be made by transfer to the bank account below (with bank fees at the participant's expense). A copy of each transfer receipt should be faxed to +34 914 291 056, with the admission number noted on the fax.

Cancellation terms

  • Accepted participants who provide written cancellation requests (letter or fax) no later than 10 working days before the beginning of a course shall be eligible to receive a 75% refund of tuition fees.  A person with a similar educational and professional background may be permitted to substitute during the entire duration of a course for an admitted general-fee participant without additional payment.  Advance notice of any such substitution is required.

  • CEMFI reserves the right to change or cancel any part of its published program due to unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled, participants will receive a full refund of reservation and tuition fees, but CEMFI will not compensate for other expenses such as those related to travel and accommodation that participants might have already incurred.
