About

Welcome to CEMFI, an institution created by the Bank of Spain in 1987 with the aim of developing graduate education and research in economics.

CEMFI offers, jointly with Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP), a high-quality graduate program leading to the official degrees of Master in Economics and Finance and PhD in Economics. In addition, we organize a Summer School every year offering intensive courses for those who want to receive a first-hand update of their training from professors with recognized research proficiency in the corresponding fields of study.

Our multiple seminar series are a reference forum for the presentation and discussion of the papers and work in progress by the researchers invited for the occasion, as well as faculty and visiting scholars from CEMFI and other institutions located in or around Madrid. Seminars dwell on all topics and approaches in economics (theoretical, applied, empirical, experimental, policy oriented, etc.)

To develop its goals, CEMFI stands on a faculty of seventeen professors who are active and internationally renowned researchers in their fields of specialization. Three are Fellows of the Econometric Society, three are Fellows of the European Economic Association, and nine are Research Fellows of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). The work of our faculty is complemented by the contribution of regular and occasional academic visitors, and by the support of our qualified administration & services personnel.

I hope that the educational and research activites described in this website attract your interest. If relevant, we would be delighted to accompany you in your professional career in economics and finance.
